District Grants

Nepal – Empowering Women through Goat Farming

In 2023-24 MASH completed a District Grant costing our club AUD 3,576 which Rotary District 9810 matched.

This project provided some women in Nepal with a male goat and 40 female goats and thus the opportunity, through breeding, to improve their income and gain a measure of independence.

Goat meat is in high demand in the Nepali market and Nepal often imports many bucks from India for meat. There is no shortage of market for goat or buck meat in Nepal and villagers can easily sell their offspring for meat or farming.

With an incubation period of 150 days, one goat can give between 2 to 4 kids – thus it is possible to have more in a year.

Pakistan – Drug Abuse Prevention in Youth
